![]() ![]() "Historians have divided the history of Cubism into phases. The art works are highly valued especially from significant artists such as Pablo Picasso.Wikipedia has this extensive entry dealing with Cubism. Its initial criticism is no longer held in current individuals and the movement had a significant part in the development of artistic styles. In modern society cubism is an accepted art form within the art community. Some Cubist paintings are Glass of Beer and Playing Cards by Juan Gris Guernica by Pablo Picasso Improvisation by Andrew Dasburg and many others. Many artist followed the Cubist movement, influenced by the new style of painting the looked at the simplified geometric forms of everyday life. Picasso used these subjects as his focus for his Cubism paintings. These subjects were also found to be used in many new styles of modernistic art movements however they have been constructed differently in each movement. They focused their paintings on simple human subjects, landscapes and towns, however the dominating subject matter used in Cubist paintings was still-life. Many Cubist artists paint subjects relevant to their everyday world (natural or man-made). These new approaches to Cubism allow Cubist artist to reconstruct their subject differently through the Analytical and Synthetic cubist styles. Synthetic Cubism was developed between 19, it was composed of different textures, surfaces, collage elements and a large variety of merged subject matter this is what characterises Synthetic Cubism. Synthetic Cubism was the later phase within Cubism that looked at the experimental nature of collage. This does not apply to all Analytic Cubist paintings as some used similar tones of colour to create a more unified surface on the painting. The brushwork in some Analytic Cubist paintings emphasized the contrast between the light and darker tones. Art critics originally used the term Cubism as an insult to their simplistic designs. Analytic Cubist artist made use of the basic geometric shapes: pyramids, cubes, spheres, cylinders, and cones to represent the natural world. ![]() The fractured, geometric forms muted colours and undefined edges of their subject are what characterizes Analytic Cubist artworks. After looking at the subject from every possible angle a Cubist artist pieces together fragments from various viewpoints simultaneously on to one painting. Colour was almost absent from these paintings except for the use of dull colours. The distinction between Synthetic Cubism and Analytic Cubism was that Analytic Cubists analyse the subjects form and re-constructs the subject with geometric shapes. Picasso’s ideas and influences lead him to approach art in a new style now known as the Cubism movement.Ĭubist paintings were not meant to be realistic or life-like in any way, instead they revolutionized conventional still life landscape and portrait paintings through their abstracted ideas and artworks.Īnalytic Cubism is one of the two phases within Cubism and was developed between 19. Picasso reconstructs the subject with different segments that allow his viewers to see all angles of his subject. In a representation the artist takes what they see and paints it on canvas. Picasso wanted to construct an image rather than represent it, like his influence Paul Cenzanne. Using colours and shapes to create a harmonious depiction. Picasso drew inspiration and unlike Cezanne he didn’t use the simplified shapes and sharp lines to add depth but to break down the subject into other geometric forms. ![]()

![]() Run the Air God Dungeon until I’m out of Damage Reduction Potions. It turns out my goals from last week were unambitious That’s because I fought a slew of new monsters from the Elite Slayer tasks which dropped a bunch of items I haven’t seen before. Per usual, Monster and Items granted me the most completion this week. I didn’t unlock the pet before getting to max level so I’ll have to revisit crafting at some point for that. I got bored of Slayer tasks in the middle of the week and used all of the dragon hides I had collected so far to see if I could max the skill. It doesn’t provide any benefits other than a Steam achievement because there’s nothing to craft after level 90. Non-Combat Skills Woodcutting 107/99 (+0) Can I Idle Melvor? doesn’t have a listing for the last two dungeons so I’ll have to find out if I have enough health/damage reduction once I get in there. I’m hoping these stats are good enough to take on In to the Mist. Attack, Strength, Magic, and Hitpoints are all now max level thanks to running so many Slayer Tasks this week. Slayer is up to level 94 now so I’m ready to take on Into the Mist next week! Combat Skills Attack 99/99 (+3)Īll skills over 99 are virtual levels based on additional experience gained after level 99 cap. As it is, I can only keep one on but the difference is noticeable. If I didn’t need the damage reduction I could equip both pieces for an extra +60% XP for slayer. They are not as good as my current armor sets but the Elite upgrade provides +30% Slayer XP on each piece. I figured I’m going to need to fully upgrade all of them fro 100% item completion so I better start working on it now. I also bought all of the Slayer equipment for Ranged, Magic, and Melee and a few upgrades for each. This should make creating large batches of summoning tablets much easier. I used my Slayer Coins to purchase the Necromancer set which gives and extra +8 summoning tablets per craft and grants +8% XP to summoning. I got my last level in Magic from doing just this. Slayer tasks are the majority of what I did this week with the occasional break to craft Holy Dust to refill my prayer points. My damage reduction was more than enough on all sets to take on whatever was thrown at me. These pit you against monsters between level 200-374. Once loot container stacking was unlocked I went to take on Elite Slayer tasks. Sadly, I’m still missing the Fletching Pet. I fletched my way to 75m GP by crafting more Dragon Javelins. Before that, I wanted to unlock Loot Container Stacking so I could forgo the Amulet of Looting in favor of a necklace that gave stats to take on the higher level slayer tasks. I needed to get to 90 slayer to be able to enter the second to last dungeon, Into the Mists. 90 Slayer to take on the In to The Mists Dungeon.Obtain 75m GP to purchase the Loot Container Stacking upgrade. As a result, my gains are probably slightly higher than they have been in the last few weeks. ![]() ![]()

He has mastered the skill of spearing a fish and making a raft, but he has to learn a whole new set of survival skills back at home. There comes a time in a persons life when he or she just wants to be alone. We know, though, that the world he left now seems strange to him and that it will take a long while for him to reorient himself and decide where he will go next. But once he gets home, the movie falters. There are some moving and beautiful moments on the raft, especially the glimpse of a whale's eye peeking just above the water. But the film is more impressive than involving and begins to seem more of an acting exercise than a saga about the triumph of the human spirit or the importance of love and family. Noland is an engaging character, and Hanks is undeniably one of the world's most engaging actors. He shreds his leg on coral and has to extract an abscessed tooth. For 45 minutes, we are alone on the island with Noland. There is no music and almost no dialogue. There may be crystal waters and azure skies, but this is no Blue Lagoon, and Hanks is no Brooke Shields. This movie is a moving exploration of what happens when everything we hold on to is taken away from us. What finally makes it possible for him to leave isn't what he relied on in his old life but the hope he has learned on the island. He knows the tides and the seasons well and plans an escape, knowing he'd rather die out on the ocean than stay on the island. In CAST AWAY, Chuck Noland ( Tom Hanks), a precise time-watcher who works for Federal Express, is called to duty on Christmas Eve and promises his girlfriend ( Helen Hunt) that he'll be home for New Year's. I am not sure that my son got all the subtleties of this last scene but he understood that it was a happy ending. ") Nonetheless, the last scene where Chuck is at a crossroad not knowing which way to go next, while contrived, was a positive and hopeful ending. (Reminiscent of the dialogue Tom Hanks has with a friend in Sleepless in Seattle where he talks about how after his wife died "all he could do is breath in and out.") In Castaway, Chuck also talks about how "you never know what the tide is going to bring in." (Reminiscent of the famous Forest Gump line "life is like a box of chocolates. Chuck talks about his lack of control on the island, how he could not even succeed at suicide and all he could do is keep "breathing". Parts of the movie also seemed completely contrived, such as the dialogue the main character, Chuck, has with his friend after he is rescued. However, the movie could easily be a FedEx commercial. I had no squirmish moments where I thought that he should leave the room and my son most enjoyed the survival scenes on the island. I watched Castaway with my 10-year-old son and we were both completely engaged. ![]() ![]() 2016’s two biggest fallen heroes - David Bowie and Prince - are represented with a couple cameo appearances.
